 Intensive Program
There is sometimes a need for counseling services to be provided in a more concentrated format. The most popular format
is our Twelve Day Intensive.
Programs can include a flexible format, housing and food, and Daily sessions. This program is great for those traveling
long distances, returning or furloughed missionaries, individuals on Sabbatical or individuals needing to get away from a stressful environment.
For more information, call Bob Peach at (937) 395-8149.
Read More About The Intensive Program
In preparation for their arrival, each individual or couple needs to talk by phone with the Counselor, Bob Peach, to determine the interests and concerns with which the participant person or couple wishes to deal. Advance psychological testing and intake information gathering (if time permits) will be discussed with the participant. This advance preparation will be in the service of designing an intensive program that will best meet the needs and expectations of the client. Generally speaking, there will be a daily two hour session with Bob Peach to focus therapeutic energy on what changes are desirable to the participant plus helping the participant to design activities which will also serve to meet the goals for their stay. Approximately 20 hours is spent with the counselor during the normal 12-day program. The resources of Kettering Memorial Hospital and the Kettering Counseling Care Center will all be available to facilitate activities that will be helpful to the participant.
Also available are: medical/college library for in-residence personal growth project research, recreation facilities of college gym, walking trails in area nature reserve, videos, audio's, and printed resources for reflection and response. Additional recreational and cultural activities are easily accessed in nearby Dayton, Ohio.
For the normal 12 Day Counseling Intensive, participants should plan to arrive in Dayton on the Sunday afternoon or evening before the scheduled Monday morning start of their program. Participants are generally finished by noon on the final Friday. The middle weekend of the program will have no regularly scheduled activities. Participants are free to relax, schedule their own recreation activities or otherwise use this time in beneficial ways. It is also advised that pastors in attendance not plan on preaching responsibilities or other obligations on the concluding weekend as this tends to distract their energies during the second week of the program.
Housing is provided in a comfortable guest apartment on the campus of Kettering Medical Center, or a studio apartment room at an area guest suite facility. Food service is received in one of the Medical Center dining rooms. The participant is advised to bring their car, or rent one if flying to Dayton International, in order to travel between several separate locations in the South Dayton area.
Current costs for the program, housing, and food would be $3,427.00 for an individual and $3,675.00 for a couple. It is possible that some of this amount could be successfully reimbursed by mental health insurance benefits. Some adjustments based on financial need may be made when designing a client financial plan. We will work very hard to find a way to make this program, or modifications of it, available to those who would benefit. The counselor will discuss options available with interested parties. A deposit of $150 is required to hold a reservation for this program. A financial plan will be arranged before the participant's arrival.
For those wishing to arrange their own housing and meals, a financial plan based on the cost of the actual counseling time can be arranged to reflect financial need. Also, modification is possible for a reduced length of stay. Please discuss specific needs with the counselor.
Administrators making a referral for counseling should be aware that an ethically confidential relationship of privileged information will be created between the participating client(s) and Kettering Counseling Care Center. Our response to requests from administrators or other people for information regarding a client can only be honored if the client has executed a specific "Consent to Release Information" form.
Persons not seeking formal therapy, but rather consultation and brief mentoring for sabbaticals or other life transition times in their development can also utilize the program. Contact Bob Peach to discuss such specialized uses.
 Clergy Care
There is a growing awareness that there is a critical need for churches and other organizations to be intentional about providing care for clergy and other church professionals.
Counseling Care is needed because clergy, school teachers, and other church professionals are generally expected to be the care-givers, but seldom the receivers of care. Church professionals not only face the burn-out associated with any of the helping professions, but can also find themselves and their families socially-isolated and lonely. Increasing clergy divorces, job failure or dissatisfaction, and relationship dysfunction with church members, all are indications that care is needed. It is KCCC's desire to provide care to church professionals and their families in a competent and confidential manner.
 Ministry Care Line
Kettering Counseling Care Center operates a national 800 number phone service to give church professionals, and their immediate family members, confidential access to the support and consultation of a trained Christian mental health worker. In addition, national directories for referrals to local Christian mental health professionals are maintained to aid subscribers. The phone line is designed to function as part of an organization's employee assistance program.
Hours: Mon-Fri, 2-5pm or Mon-Thur, 8-11pm [EST]
There are currently over 3,000 eligible employee participants plus family members in about 30 different subscribing organizations. The yearly cost per employee is less than many monthly magazine subscriptions. See below for current prices and plan options.
 Available Group Subscription Plans
Per Person Option
$17.75 per eligible employee/member billed at the beginning of the subscription year. The organization's employees and immediate family members can call as much as they wish for this one price. This is the best option for organizations that generate a quantity of calls greater than 25% of the number of their eligible employees (called the "Utilization Rate").
Utilization Only Option
$83.00 per call. If no calls come there is no charge. This allows an organization to have MCL available to their employees even if only a few actually use the service. To protect the subscribing organization there is a cost cap of $20.00 per employee per year. Every organization can therefore make MCL available without fear of out-of-control expenditures. In this plan, calls will be billed after the close of each quarter. This option is usually the most cost effective for organizations with a Utilization Rate of less than 20%.
Combination Option
$10.00 per eligible employee/member per year billed at the beginning of the subscription year. PLUS: $26.50 per call from the organization billed after the close of each quarter. There is a cost cap of $19.00 per employee. This option is usually most cost effective for organizations with a Utilization Rate of 20-25%.
Kettering Counseling Care Center would like to introduce you to the PREPARE/ENRICH Inventories developed by Dr. David H. Olson, Professor of Family Social Science at the University of Minnesota. The Inventories are scientifically developed instruments used to assess relationship strengths and problematic areas for couples. Life Innovations, Inc. publishes them.
Clergy and other professionals in providing pre-marital and marital counseling use these instruments extensively. They find the 15 page computer print-out organizes vital information from the couple in a way that can greatly facilitate counseling sessions.
There are actually five instruments. PREPARE is designed for couples planning to marry. PREPARE-MC is the same, only modified for blended family marriages. PREPARE-CC is for couples who have chosen to live together before their impending marriage. ENRICH is for use in marriage enrichment groups and for couples seeking marriage counseling. MATE is for use in marital, pre-marital, and life transition counseling with couples over 50 years of age.
