Helping those who are facing cancer and their families and friends is our first priority
at Kettering Medical Center. Our dedicated staff of healthcare experts and medical
specialists provide up-to-date information and state-of-the-art treatment options as well
as the support you need during this challenging time.
- Clinical Trials – every major advance in cancer treatment in the last twenty
years is due to cancer research studies, also called clinical trials. At Kettering
Medical Center we conduct hundreds of nationally sponsored clinical trials annually.
KMC offers patients the opportunity to participate in the latest cancer treatments
through our Nuclear Medicine Department, the Wallace-Kettering Neuroscience Institute, and more. KMC
works closely with the Dayton Clinical Oncology Program to provide access to
National Cancer Institute clinical trials and selected pharmaceutical studies. Ask
your physician, “Is there a clinical trial for me?”
- Chemotherapy and Biotherapy – KMC knows that experience counts. When your
physician recommends chemotherapy and biotherapy treatment, our nurses are ready to
assist with both inpatient and outpatient infusions. Each registered nurse on the KMC
medical-surgical oncology unit completes additional training in chemotherapy and
biotherapy. In addition, many of our nurses are nationally certified in medical-surgical
nursing, geriatric nursing (care of older adults), hospice-palliative care, and oncology
nursing (care of people with cancer).
- Radiation Therapy
Providing you with the latest technology:
- IMRT (Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy) available for prostate, head and neck,
breast, thyroid, lung, gynecologic, liver, brain tumors, lymphomas and sarcomas.
- Dual energy linear accelerators with Munlti-Leaf (MLC) Collimators.
- 16-Slice CT Scanner and 3D Laser system for accurate treatment planning.
- Functional Image Guided Radiotherapy (FIGRT) - Metabolic mapping with PET, MR and
CT fusion.
- High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy Center with treatments available for breast,
prostate, lung, cervix, esophageal and other cancers.
- Prostate Seed Implant Program using real-time dosimetry.
- Gamma Knife Radiosurgery: non-invasive brain surgery available for patients with
benign and malignant tumors.
- Computerized Quality management Systems to ensure accuracy.
- Direct, on-going physician communication to better meet your patients needs.
- Radioimmunotherapy – KMC’s Nuclear Medicine Department is on the
cutting edge, offering the latest in cancer therapies as well as state-of-the-art
imaging. KMC is pleased to be one of the first hospitals to offer a whole new category of
cancer therapy called radioimmunotherapy including Bexxar® and Zevalin® to selected
patients with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
- Surgery – Board certified surgeons and surgical oncologists on staff.
