 History
The library was dedicated on June 27, 1991 as a memorial to Cindy Wilde Vogel. Native Daytonian, Cindy Wilde Vogel, battled breast cancer for 5 years before it claimed her life in 1988 at the age of 36.
Cindy was a single mother raising her two children, when she found out she had cancer. Quickly she came to understand the importance of early detection and education in fighting cancer.
A Poem by Cindy Wilde Vogel
right now
not tomorrow
or yesterday
or half a year from today
but right now...
right now
yes-this very moment
we can be trees
or flowers
or rain
or snow
or laughter
or tears
or sunshine
just anything imaginable...
but only right now
because dreams don't last
forever...
right now
not tomorrow
or yesterday
or half a year from today
but right now...and only
now...
